As in not machining the block? And using a metal gasket?

Countdown to next BHG: commence.

If you're going to MHG, you'll have to mill the block too.

So your headgasket isnt blown?? cuz Ive also heard that if you replace your headgasket before its blown that you shouldnt have to mill the block, and that if it doesnt need to be machined, not to machine it because it is impossible to duplicate the finish on the deck and head from factory

but the head is another story.. its aluminum, and aluminum warps.. Ide definatly have that checked out

Your mechanic is an idiot, IMHO. I've NEVER seen a 7M water pump go out. I don't trust this guys ASE Certs one bit.

For a MHG to seal properly it must be a perfectly smooth surface on both sides. You just can't get it smooth enough without a lapping tool or machine the bottom end. Period. It won't seal.

Heads must ALWAYS be machined before putting them back on.
