83' mk2 key lock cylinder replcament???

hey there....my key broke off in my car when i tryed to start it and well half of it is in the key assembly...its still works and all but its not a very good theft thing.....i called around and asked if they had any 83' key lock cylinder to replcae mine but they didnt....all they had was an 86'.....but the thing is that i know for a fact that the mk2 is between 82'-86' so IM ASSUMING that there all the same!!!!!if anyone knows of this could you help thanks.

a new ignition switch...or.....

my buddy is a locksmith and he has these little tools for removing keys that are stuck in lock cylanders. You could try that yourself or have a locksmith do that (they do that stuff all day long) they could also make you a new key off the pattern of the broken one, and probably free up that stubborn lock cylander!

Watch out, MKII was 1982-1986, MKIII was 1986.5-1992.


Places might just consider the early MKIII models to be '86.



As for interchangability between other MKII's, I can't help you with that
