Repin, I see a trend. Are you trying to say something? Bwahhahaha

DSMKiller, I think the Head Gasket may be a weak point in the Mk3 Supra.

Take a compression tester with you. Test cylinders #1 and #5. They're easy to get at without disturbing anything. If they'll allow you, compression test it.

If not, check the coolant, see if you can see a rainbow in the top of the radior neck. If so, that's often a sign of coolant in the oil. A common sign of a blown headgasket. If you can, drive it long enough to get hot, take it for a short jaunt down the freeway. See if the temp gauge does anything funny. Obviously, if the car smokes white (after it's warmed up), that's a bad sign. And generally, ask if anythings been done to the car, dig into it's maintenance history some.

Hmm, then just start checkin' it out. Also look for spots in the driveway where it's parked. This is often an easy trick to see if it's been leaking or anything. Other than that, just investigate it as much as you can.

Give me the VIN I have an unlimited number of uses for carfax for the next few weeks. I bought an account a couple of weeks ago when I got my MKIII. I'll run it and send it to you somehow. But don't put too much faith in carfax. One car that showed up clean, I went out to Kansas city to see and it had been is a mega wreck, and had its frame pullled...luckily I knew what to look for

hi all I too am new,I finnally had time to post and say hi.My name is Mark and I live in Arizona.I bought a 87 non turbo a couple weeks back and love it.I was having some overheating and losing coolent problems and just started replacing things starting with the cheep stuff first( such as theromostat and hoses ) hoping it was a BHG but it turned out to be a plugged radiator.there is a few other things I need to do to it ,like ball joints, tune up,and other minor things.I got a real good deal on it $1200.I am still learning aboout the supra. So I hope that if I have any questions someone will be willing to help me out.

I too am not able to do the carfax thing cause no card .I did the free thing and it said it has 6 lists.so jsbenami is there any chance you would be intrested in helping me out too? I would be extreamly greatful.

I also have a question does anyone know how much power the autos can handle.I am forced to use the auto trans since I am paralyzed.

Thanks for any and all help.
Mark

i dont feel like reading up on this post, so ill just say a few things... first off... eVERYTHING can be replaced for relatively cheap on this car except one thing... the body, make sure there is no rust on the undercarriage, open the hatch and open the side compartments and look inside to see if there is rust inside the wheel well area, check underneath the doors and try and notice how warped the sidemoulding is... if its warped chances are there will eventually be rust

Not quite.

Try tracking down a new-ish 87-88 Wiring harness for cheap or several other pieces.
