Question Rear Lights Go Out

Hello everyone. I'm helping my neighbor w/ her 87 supra turbo (7M-GTE) MA-07
When the lights are on, and you press the brake pedal the rear lights TURN OFF.
Any advice , much appreciated !
Also, how do you check for computer codes?
and any links to UNDERSTAND this beautiful beast would be kool.

Thanx

I'd say that your brake lightbulb(s) are burnt out. It's a dual-filament bulb. Your parking lights are functioning fine, but the other filament - the brake light - is probably dead and gone. If this is the case, the symptoms would be exactly what you're describing.

The bulbs are obviously working. The grounding wire has been switched to the wrong side.

Are you sure you're referring to a beautiful beast, not a beautiful neighbor?

The parking lights, yes, but the brake light filament could be toast.

both be beautiful !
Hey I replaced all 4 double filament (tail/brake light) bulbs and interestingly I have the same problem, but the furthermost brake/taillight bulb(pass side) is brighter than the other 3, and the other 3 are dim.
So when u turn on the lights, 3 bulbs are dim, 1 is bright, THEN when u press the brake the 3 dim bulbs go out and the bright one stays on and works fine !!
Sheesh - go figure !
Any help much appreciated

san clemente, south orange county/ aw the girls here !

Anyway, I tightened the ground screws on the individual sockets and also tightened the bolt that holds that little yellow box under the driverside rear light assembly, to the body,
and now the drive side lights are working like they should.

but,one of the the passenger side tail/brake light bulb still goes out when you press the brakes.

what is that little yellow box under the driverside rear light assembly?
Thanx for the help

I had this issue. Cleaning all the contacts, and tighting all the connections did wonders for me.
