well, its just about spring and I wanna get the Supra road worthy.. For that I guess i'll need an exhaust system..
Competition muffler tells me I NEED a flex section on the DP, otherwise the welds, or turbo will crack, which makes sence.. But ive also seen a few w/o flex's that havent had any problems.. The flex is $125 and I dont want to pay for it it.. Do i really need one? anyone have any problems from not usin one?
Also, anyone know if flowmaster or borla mufflers sound any good on the turbo supra??
it'l be full 3" from turbo back
Many successful users of non flex DP's will tell you no. I say as long as you remove the transmission bracket, you should be fine. Directly attach it to the tranny without the flex and I can see a crack in your future. The stocker had it to deal with thermal expansion and contraction, not flex.
alright.. Ive got a 3" BIC downpipe, but its been cut off about a foot back from the cat mounting bracket, so i'll just get them to weld new pipe up to the dp w/ no flex, back to a resonator and im thinking either a flowmaster or Magna-flow muffler
wow.. I figure my exhaust will cost about $700CDN MAX
my downpipe/elbow was $200, muffler, piping and labour is about $400 at Competition Muffler and I can get a resonator for $50 bucks..
I finally took the car out for a good run yesterday, first time its been driven since I did the manifold gaskets.. Idles nice and smooth and picks up nice, but I noticed it was acting up in the 4000-6000rpm range when I really laid into it.. it started popping at 4000 rpm, like a misfire or a slight backfire.. stock boost, no boost controller and open downpipe.. so I Still have a few bugs to work out..
