Thats the filter location for the turbo. The NA may have it on the drivers side of the engine block around cylinders 4-5 I remember the MKII did, perhaps the MKIII NA as well.

thanx, when it stops raining here in florida i'll cahnge it. As for the brake lights, the parking lights will come on, the stupid yellow box in the trunk under the driver side light assembly is the cause. i took it apart and found that it had a burn mark on the board (all it is , is a circut board w/a connetor for the harness to plug in) i rigged it past the burn mark, and the brake lights worked. when i turned on the lights i pressed the brake again, the brake light worked for a second the stopped working again, what can i do to slove this?

the NA fuel filter is located above the rear diff. but it doesnt need to be changed, toyota designed it to never have to be replaced. its a long read but very very informative.
