Intercooler sprays

I was wondering if these are worth the money. I've heard that they don't do all that much in the HP increase perspective. I have a friend in an SRT club (shun me if you want, I still think the SRT is a good "bang for your buck" car) and some of them are running a cry-02 spray and others an NOS spray. Theese people said they noticed a difference, not sure if I should believe them, no one likes to admit they wasted money

I've also heard of rerouting your washer fluid lines to spray on your intercooler Has anyone else heard of this? and is it just as/more/less affective then a spray kit. Not one for half-assed jobs myself I doubt I'll bother with any of this unless its been proven. Any other thoughts on these systems would be appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, they are effective however they're obviously only effective for short bursts and you may not see much of a gain in near stock condition on a Mk3. There are other, larger defencies besides the intake air temp.

Re-routing the headlight sprayers on a Mk3 has proved totaly ineffective in all instances I've seen it done. The washer fluid isn't cool enough, nor does it spray enough of a surface area to be anywhere near effective. To answer your question, re-routing isn't even worth the effort to do.

If you do go with an IC sprayer system, it should be N2O (easily refillable) or CO2. A water variation just doesn't cut it.

I decided to bring this thread up and not start my own because its been discussed here. I was searching this topic on supraforums.com today, and one of the MKIV guys did it with his... he said that he regained 15 lost hp due to the heat...he said he dynoed the car, then drove around all day, and redynoed tha car...and due to the heat, he was down 15 horse...he poked holes in the hose so that it covered the whole intercooler, and he put icecubes and water in his washer solvent....and he regained tha 15 horse...i am looking for tha thread rite now, and will post it as soon as i c it...but do u think that it'll really work w/ that? Ice cubes, water, and have it poked so it covers tha whole IC?
thanx

It can help, but it's only really for short runs. Drag Strips, Dyno pulls, etc. You can't just keep packing the thing with ice, it's not economical.

Sure it can regain some power, but I've tried it and noticed VERY minimal gains. 15hp seems to be a big jump imho.
