is $7k a deal for a 97 Supra TT?

My coworker is lookin for a used car and found two 97 Supra TTs for sale locally. One is an auto w/55K miles and the other is standard w/50K miles, both for $7000 a piece. He called up both dudes, and the first guy's reason for selling was that he was moving out of the country and needed to get rid of the car in the next week, and the second guy's reason was because he needed cash quick so he wouldnt get evicted from his place. Both are apparently in superb conditon except one of them apparently has a cracked front bumper and a bent rim. My coworker asked if I'd go along with him to check out the cars (he is a car newb) and see if anything is wrong with them.

So what Im asking is: is $7k a deal or should we be fishy? Also, do Supras have any noticeable probs that I could spot easily?

Thanks in advance

check for blow by. when the car is running, take off the oil cap and if you feel any push, (air) then the top end is bad. i forgot who told me that. but for the most part, i'd check to make sure the engine compartment is at least semi clean. it does seem kinda low, and the whole eviction story would have me second guessing. but a good buy if all is well. i'd take a test drive in it first.

SCAM!! especially the moving out of country one, stay away. Similar adds have been posted before for the same price, and car. If you can actually go see the car, by all means go for it. If not, don't send a deposit. Mkiv TT's go for around 30-40k with that mileage and year. Haven't seen, or met anyone that would ever give the car away for 7k. There are similar threads about this type of stuff, do a search.

thanks for the heads up, guys. it is a scam! i noticed that there are 3 listings for 3 different supras, but they all have the same Vin # and are all located in the same town, just with different people to contact. knew it was too good to be true

Yeah. No one sells a Mk4 for that cheap. Anyone (I swear, my grandma knows this) knows they could sell for twice that (with that mileage) and get it in under 3 days.
