Then you didn't search hard enough.

In the short time I've been here, I've seen no less than 3 discussions on the 1jz.

$2,500 is just the start of a 1jz swap. Most people spend in excess of $4,000 - $5,500.

There was no official 7M-Gtte, some have done it, but IMHO there's not a good reason to.

Quote:
N/A Specs:

Horsepower: 200@6200
Torque: 188
Weight: 3400-3600
Engine: 7M-GE 2954cc
Transmission: W58
Injector Size: 380cc
Spark Plugs: NGK BCPR5EP-11
Compression: 9.2:1
Cylinder Pressure: 156
Fuel Pressure: 33-40psi

Turbo Specs:

Horsepower: 230@5600 (232 89+ models)
Torque: 246 (256 89+ models)
Weight: 3600-3700
Engine: 7M-GTE 2954cc
Transmission: R154
Boost: 6.8psi (Autos run lower boost because the tranny doesn't put as much load on the motor -- more like around 4 - 4.5psi)
Turbo: Toyota CT-26
Spark Plugs: NGK BCPR6EP-N8
Injector Size: 440cc
Compression: 8.4:1
Cylinder Pressure: 142
Fuel Pressure: 33-40psi
Fuel Cutoff: 11.4-13.7psi
Intercooler Efficiency: 3psi drop@6.8psi
That's not at the wheels, or correcting for altitude. Expect about a 12% loss in the drivetrain.

Plenty of good reasons to. I wouldn't be doing it now for nothing

Given a pair that flow the same as a single, the twins will always have faster spool. In physics terms, it is an advantage due to lower polar moment of inertia. The mass of the shaft and wheels of the pairs is smaller, and the mass is more closely centred around the axis of the shaft, thus for the same amount of exhaust energy, they can accelerate faster. The magnitude is between a few percent and near ten depending on the turbos compared. The single is granted more efficient at peak power, but gets the short end of the spool stick. All about where you want the power. I want grunt, so i went twins on the 7M.

Single...by a long shot. If you see the price of a single kit, multiply by 2 and still add some for twins, forgetting the prep work.

Lights...pivot light controller. Made in Japan, but some shops have access to them. Otherwise, dial your headlights up a bit manually.

bgrieger, at the same times, there are reasons the most power is made on large singles.

But yes, Single is very definately cheaper. One turbo = Less stuff to buy.
