1JZ-GTE

Okay, first off, i'll get it out of the way, I am an owner of a Cressida (mx-83) and this post has nothing to do with the supra except for may be the engine in question. The 1JZ-GTE is found in some MKIII supra models (not in the U.S. unfortunately) and the Toyota Chaser/Cresta/MarkII sedans as well. I've talked to a guy who had successfully transplanted a 1JZ-GTE from a JZX-81 (turbo Chaser) into a Australian spec Cressida (MX-83). He bought a Chaser front end and basically swapped everything over from the Chaser. He makes this swap sound simple and says the swap for my U.S. spec Cressida ought to be an even better choice since the left hand drive position allows room for bigger twin pipes for the twin turbos which are located to the right of the engine. I have no doubt in my mind that the swap will work, the Cressida even has all the holes for the clutch pedals meant for the Japan spec Chasers with manual transmissions. But that's in AUSTRALIA. I live in the U.S. (California) and it all comes down to whether I can find a distibutor who can ship me a whole Chaser front end from either Japan or anywhere else they sell Chasers.

Please let me know if you know of anyone or links of anykind pertaining to this post. Thanks

Ray
