Radio swap

I replaced the Fujitsu Ten AM/FM/Cassette in my '88 Supra with an original Panasonic AM/FM/Cassette/CD from another '88 Supra. The Panasonic has Toyota markings all over it, and a Toyota part number. (08600-00337) All plugs fit fine. But the unit will not respond. It won't even power up. Either there's something incompatable betweew the two radios, or it just doesn't work. Since they're both from '88's, I'm leaning towards the radio's broke since I'd assume chassis wiring between 2 same-year Supras would be the same. When I re-install the Fujitsu, it works fine- so fuses and other wiring are ok.
Any thoughts?

Yeah, sounds like either an anti-theft device in the stereo, or the radio is busted. Just buy an aftermarket stereo and a wire harness.

The stock head unit wasn't worth it's troubles at this age.
