Question Coolant Gauge

hello all!!! my problem today is a water temperature gauge that works when it wants to. things i've been noticing my coolant gauge was doing, is it's always at the coldest point even when the vehicle has been used to get to its destination, and when it is about a nice 60-65 degree weather in new york city the coolant gauge will bounce up and down moderately by the safe middle and a pinch under the middle temperature area better known as N.O.T. "Normal Operating Temp.", although the 7m powerplant has never overheated and the gauge has never showed the engine overheating. and another weird thing i've noticed is sometimes when you rev the engine, the needle of the coolant gauge move up and down like the needle in the oil pressure gauge. is this a weird symptom or the connections for the o.e.m. coolant gauge is loose. if this info is insufficient ask me more questions to futher diagnose this problem.

1) Please stop using large, bold fonts. I can read fonts normally just fine...
2) You said it was at the 'coldest point' 24/7, how can it bounce when it's on the bottom of the gauge?
3) I can't read that, sorry, it's like rambling, in text form.

basically jeeves the coolant gauge works sometimes and i don't know what to check or look for, but 90% of 100 the needle is always stuck on the lowest point on the gauge and then once or twice a month the gauge will work like it's suppose to.

Have you made sure all the wires and connections are good on the thermostat housing?

I had this exact same problem earlier today and just fixed it. The temperature gauge reads from a sending unit behind the power steering bracket. Above it is a larger (green on mine) box connector. The connector you want to play with is the smaller spade connector below it. I simply unplugged it and plugged it back in and it started reading just fine again. Good luck with that man.

*edit*
My bad, just realized this is over two years old, lmao. Still, if you have this problem (an unstable temperature gauge reading that never overheats, and usually sits just below NOT) try reseating the connection on the sending unit, that fixed my problem.
