My first questions!!

Hello everyone, My name is Pauly Boy and I am about to buy my first Supra. I was wondering if someone could break it down for me. What year supras are MKII, III, and IV? I have narrowed the search down to 4 choices, all of them turbo and all of them with about the same miles....except for one. I have a choice between a 87, 88, 90, or a 91. The 90 has a new engine with 50k miles on it. The 88 has a newly re-built engine. The 87 and the 91 both have about 140K miles on them. I think I am leaning towards the 88 but the prospect of the new engine in the 90 is kind of appealing. So what does everyone else think? Could you tell me what you would choose and why? Thanks for the help. I hope to be on here a lot more when I get my Supra. Peace.
Pauly

its a matter of personal opinion, i like the pre-89 better, id go 88, cooler spoiler, better tails(no center section) different nose, its up to you bud, make sure you car-fax em all.

those are all mkiii's you listed... you can have a new engine but a shitty turbo, check EVERYTHING thats the first deciding factor... also... 5spd or auto? personally id go with whichever one's body is in the best condition to begin with cause body work is more expensive than engine works... engines can be replaced... but yeah, i agree, the pre-89's are the nicest looking in my opinion, the 89+ look a tad more feminine

1) Those are all Mk3 Supras.

pre-1986.5 = Mk2 Supra
1986.5-1992 = Mk3 Supra
1993 - 1998 (iirc) = Mk4 Supra (See: TF&TF)

List of important factors:
Year: Cannot get dealer parts for 87-88 Cars.
Auto/5spd: It takes money to convert either way, so decide now.
Color: Remember, cops like Red cars...
Targa/Hardtop: Targas leak like a siv, think carefully. Hardtops are also rarer. Also, Hardtops are lighter (meaning: Faster).
NA/Turbo: More Expensive than the Auto->5spd swap by far...

Other factors:
Body Quality? Rust? Where was it located? Etc.
Interior? Clean? Is it Maroon, those don't have as high a re-sale value.
Is it smooth on the freeway? These cars should have NO problems in factory trim at freeway speeds.

Think that's about it...
