So my question is regarding the ct26 tubo. I just recently got a new turbo seeing how mine decided to fail extensivley. I was about to start the install when i looked in the "HOT" side of the exhaust housing, and saw a somewhat large crack inside. now its directly in the middle on the inside of the housing. now heres where it get wierd, my friend who has a Merkur XR4Ti turbo had the same looking crack on the inside of his turbo any one know about this? is it not a crack and just somethink normal? PLEASE HELP ME!
You likely will not even notice it. Almost impossible to repair though, and most shops that do upgrades can't upgrade a cracked housing. It will cause a small wastegate leak, but again, not really noticable.
Then they're probably liars. You say a shop did it? Was it a turbo shop? If it wasn't, then they probably only replaced some gaskets and such. Only a turbo shop would be able to make it 'like new'.
However, you didn't answer the question.

Who came up with this 500px wide BS?
Exhaust housings are a bitch...no new sources for stockers, so it may be rebuilt, may even be well, but the housing there is only so much they can do about. That said, if they didn't advise you of it, and advertised it in new shape, they seem a little full of it.
no it was a real turbo shop only for turbos thier names are turbo engineering corporation(look up on internet youll find them) I ran it today for the first time and it didnt seem to be leaking at all or any noticiable problems. im going to call them and ask. thanks for the feed back to the question: no its right in the middle almost too cnetered and it seems to run all the way down the inside of the housing but like i said my friend has the same thing and i might be looking at something that is supposed to be there
It is not supposed to be there. When you say inside, I assume you mean it runs into the wastegate hole and it's in line with the scroll of the turbine section (you don't see it when the flapper door is closed, or only a little radius cracking). This is not normal. Those surfaces are supposed to be smooth and crack free. Again, most times they can't be repaired, and replacement housings without cracks are hard to find as Toyota did not sell the housings seperately.
