Am I getting ripped off or not?

Okay, remember I said there's a MKIII 91 Supra Turbo for sale in my neighborhood right?

I've rechecked the price and it was $7900.

Here's the following condition of the car:

100,000+ miles
Need a new oil pan
Need a new Fuel Line
Need to Port and Polish the sucker
Replace the worned out gasket and Piston Rings
A new radiator. The current one is okay, but it took some heavy hits from gravel and pebbles
There's no radio. It's been stripped bare
There's no glove for the shift box. (No leather covering)
Need to flush all the fluids. The lot owner said it never had a flush since it was bought new.

Things that doesn't need repairs:
Pistons
Spark Plugs
Tranny
Headers
Turbo Manifold
Turbo seems okay
Air Filter
Tranny
Suspensions are in decent condition, maybe need to replace shocks but yeah.

Things I don't know yet:
The exhaust port and piping
Fuel Tank
Anything else?

I get all of these problems for $7900. Is this price worth all the trouble I would have to go through?

But he was cool enough to bargain with me. So until I can get $8000. All I can do is watch it everyday if someone buys it before me.

IMO thats waaaaaaaaaaay 2 much man. u can get MKIIIs on ebay for that price that run close to 500 horse...for a 91 MKIII to be worth close 2 8 g's, it better have under 50K miles...and that thing has to look better than elisha cuthbert on a hot summer day ...so to answer ur question...YES u r getting ripped off...in order to replace the piston rings...ALOT of labor is invloved...ur gonna have 2 change tha head gasket, ur gonna have to change tha head gasket, which means sending tha head out...which means, www.ebaymotors.com is where u wanna start lookin for supras ...man i should get paid for promoting their asses
hope that helps
peace

haha thnx. But when it comes to buying cars on eBay. I never trust it. Too much of a hassle, and shipping is like I rather drive it home on the same day. Well, I can bargain with the guy. Being a ex-salesrep, it won't be hard.

But thnx though. Yeah, I have to change the gaskets by the looks of it. Maybe more.

But most likely, when I get it, the first thing that's being replaced is the clutch and flywheel. That alone will cost me a pretty penny. Maybe $600 for the Ogura Clutch system. Another $120 for a TRD Flywheel? If they make one that is.

my good man, tha first thing u need 2 replace are those rings...otherwise ur gonna burn tha oil outa tha motor like i did, and spin a rod ...thats y i dont get 2 drive my car...secondly, as far as clutch and flywheel, if i know trd prices 2 b tha crazy way they r...a fidanze flywheel is at tha least 300 bux...TRD should b more lol
but gluck! dont pay over 2 or 3 stacks for it though...as for ebay...i sell on ebay ...its not THAT bad, i had a guy pickup a range from me 2day from texas...im in IL...he drove it bac tha same day lol
peace

Bad car for the cash. $2000 tops if the body was absolutely perfectly factory mint.

Hmm, yeah I'd figured it was overpriced. Way overpriced. I should fight with this guy to power the price. Fight as in bargaining like crazy. Make him lower it to $3400 tops or less. I really want it. I mean, where can you find a 91 Turbo w/manual in mint condition?. The body's in mint condition, but the interior is not that glamerous. Well, we'll see what would happen. Thanks for the replies.

man as much as i'd luv a 91 turbo, i still think 3400 is too much...honestly 3 grand is more than enuff...but since tha interiors not glamorous, its not worth 2...check out autotrader.com or sumthing...cus thats waaaaaay 2 much, think about how much it'll cost to redo the interior alone, then tha motor, radiator, everything....if ur talking droppin tha price...i'd say 2 g's max...cus that motor needs a rebuild regardless, and thats no walk in tha park, its longer to rebuild a motor than to install a motor, and in tha book, installing a motor on a 7mgte is 11.3 hours! i'll find out for u tomorrow how much rebuilding one would be, then u gotta get everything machined, this that and tha other thing, its really not worth it, do get impulsive, cus thats a mistake we all make, especially with our beloved supras. if u cant get him down to 2 g's MAX, walk away, and watch it not sell...theres an 89 by my house, in that type of condition for 1400, and it still didn't sell...so u'll most definately find sumthing better
peace

Thanks for the trouble in helping me guys. I appreciate it! Looking forward to hear from you too. Yes, the car's been there over a year already. I know it's not selling, so I'm not worried.

Well the thing is. I'm planning to buy this car for my project car. Not a daily driver. My camry's for that. Basically, I just want to fool around with the car to gain more knowledge on how things work. I chosed the 91 Supra because the engine is quite complicated where I've heard from. ANd not to mention, it's also fun to drive when it's all done.

So, if I get a decent paying job, I wouldn't mind paying over $4000 for the car. I'm not planning to add insurance to the car either. I wont' be planning to drive the car as much on the streets.
