UK Dump valve (BOV), can you use any type?

Hi All

Dump valves (of BOV's, whatever you want to call them).... i was wondering, can you fit any type to the supra turbo or are there some that will not work..... i am not looking to gain performance, just really get a good sound to start with.... later on down the line will be serious performance gains (when i get the engine in some thime this or next week!

Also.... why do some people use saab or porsche standard bov's?

Cheers

Rosco

There are dozens and dozens to choose from. It really is a matter of preference. I like the SSQV by HKS. Many performance purveyors have bolt on kits. But I prefere the custom application due to its versitility because down the line you can surely change something if you need to. Search blow-off.

a BOV (Blow Off Valve) / Dump Valve will never increase performance. It's there only to alleviate the pressure on the turbo after the throttle body has closed.

Just about any BOV/Dump you can find will work. The ones that re-route the air into the intake seem to work with fewer pains. However, some people seem to have no problems venting to atmosphere, others have immense problems.

As for usage, anyone that can take a pressure in, a signal line, and possible a dump tube out will be just fine for use in the Mk3 Supra.

Porsche or Saab BOV's are common in the MK3 because they're cheap and a good simple replacement for the stock BOV.

Lastly, Search. This has been discussed many times.

You gotta attach the BOV to the intercooler piping. any will work-just gotta find a place to install it, etc.
