Question 1985 Supra

If not started for a hour the car will start for just about 10 seconds then quits won't start at all after that unless left alone. Has new fuel pump but the car has sat for about seven years any ideas?

Have u checked the oil, does it do any type of noise when it's on 4 those 10 sec's?Best bet take it to a trusted mechanic and have them open the block up and then start checkin everything pistons, rods, etc. etc.

Actually sounds like a mix between a faulty fuel pump and low battery. If the car sat for 7 years I hope you drained the gas tank and put fresh premium gasoline in it. Im assuming you did since 85s had internal fuel pumps so you had to drop out the gas tank. Fuel filter should be changed as well and so should many gaskets be changed.

Re 85 supra

Yes I put new fuel in it new fuel pump and filter too it I am sure this is some sorta of problem with a sensor that has gone awry it starts and runs fine for a few seconds and then just stops will not start again unless its left sitting for a while. When it does start it seems to rev at a high rpm. could this be a throttle sensor problem or something else in the ECU?

Are you sure that's the *first* thing he should do?
