Insurance? on the Turbo? 16 years old? let's put it this way...if you're looking at 1500-5000 for a car, put almost the high end away for insurnace. Most adults are paying from $800-$1500 a year accident free with 15 years or more of a clean driving record. Add to that you are looking to buy a 10-15 year old car with expensive parts and you get a hint of what it will cost you to own.

For a more exact amount, call a couple of insurance agencies where you live and get some pricing to start. Some are better on younger drivers than others. Some will blow your mind!!! As you're location is an unknown, it's hard to tell you exactly what this may cost.

Bob

EDIT: OK, went to a quote site and entered the following: assume you live in Toronto, are 17 with a G2 class license (cant insure anyone as principle for 16 and G1), no claims, basic coverage only, has drivers ed, 1987 Supra Turbo, and as there is no other coverage for fire or thieft or collision, alarm means squat, $1M liability : $4821.00

With full coverage ($2M liability fire thieft, etc, collision, 1000 deductibles on each): $8052.00

That works out to either $401 per month, or $672, oh that's plus taxes...

my God!.... i had no idea it would be in that range, just as a curiosity, what would it cost to insure a mark IV with a BPU? I suddenly think my $750/year on my 1979 is a really great deal. that is with 2 accidents and a speeding ticket!

Just looked for fun...I think there is a problem calculating the amounts on the MK IV TT...the online quotes for a G2, 18 year old driver, no driving history, no collision, no comprehensive, living in Toronto ranged from $16500 to 32,600 annually, pre-tax across 5 different company's web quotes...

All I can say is holy crap if they're right...that's $1375 a month to insure at the cheap one, and $2716 for the most. Glad I'm "over the hill" now compared to a lot of the youngsters out there!
