Question buying a supra and need help

well my camry got totaled so i need a new car. A friend of a friend is selling his 90 supra n/a. it has about 120k miles and he says it runs good. I was wondering if there is anything i should look for when i go see it, like any problem spots? Do the older supras hold up in high millage? the Supra is my dream car, so any help or advice would be great

thanks
rob

Since I own both cars, I think I'm a fair rep to speak here.

It depends on what you're looking for. Daily Driver? Project Car? Fast\Cheap\Reliable - You can only pick two.

If you're looking for a daily driver, I'd shy away from the Supra. Premium only means it's more expensive, and it's also a much older car. The last model produced is now over 13 years old. On top of that, they've got their quirks (Head gasket, leaking targas/trunks, Cam position sensors, Failing MAF's, Speedo cables, etc) and such that like to stick their heads out.

If you're looking for a fun car, or a project car, I'd definately say pick up the Supra.

At the same time, I know plenty of people who don't mod them or simply don't go past shimming the wastegate and they are reliable daily drivers and have been for long periods of time. My personal experience though says keep a reliable car and a fun one if you can afford it. The headaches just aren't worth the hassle sometimes.
