well, both of those swaps are pretty tough. a 1jz with tranny from ebay or soko costs approx 1600 dollars...thats being very generous....then an ecu, 100 dollars, and im not sure about wiring harnesses...then you have to find someone to do it...or you can do it yourself....and labor is however much labor is, but its more than 1000 dollars for sure...if your looking 2jz, its about 2600 for tha motor and tranny, being generous wit tha pricing...then you have to get an ecu, wiring harness, driveshaft, and a rear end....plus labor and misc. shit...your looking at at LEAST 5 thousand...ur best bet is to go with tha 7mgte and have fun w/ it
hope that helps
peace

don't under estimate a 7m-gte, it can be built to be quite the monster.

Like he said, 500 isn't tough at all. There's a 7M-GTE Cressida wagon here in my city. But even to cram the GTE in there it took a good deal of work. Unless this is a flat out project car to dump $6,000+ into easy, I'd say go with the 7M. Can't go wrong and it's been done lots of times.

Don't forget about the front/mid sump issues that you have to contend with.

It should physically go in easy. The rest (electricals, etc), however...

Not quite...

Just because the 7M fits in the MA70 chasis doesn't mean the 1JZ will.

As said, not quite.

There are even cases where a 7M won't even go in properly

Ahh, but the 1JZ will fit. Check out a previous edition of Sport Compact car, or was it Super Street. Either way it was the May or June issue, I will check when I get home today. It wasn't easy, nor was it cheap. It is almost a direct swap, but there is custom work involved also.
