3rd Generation A/C and general maintenance question

Hey all, Supra's have always been my dream car and since I can't quite afford a gen-5 yet, I'm gonna get a gen-3 to hold me over

I've found a guy in my area (which is VERY short of gen-3's, btw) who has a red 89 Turbo Targa top with 130,000 miles, says it's very very clean. Now here's my question...

He says he has to fix the AC, he didn't really specify how so, but he quoted it as costing $400-500. He also said the front fender had a dent and would cost $300 to replace.

If he fixed it all up he would sell for $4400, but without either he said he'd sell for $3500. What're your thoughts? Worst case scenario, if I had to replace the entire AC unit, how much would that run me? What other repairs should I start expecting around 130k?

There is no "Gen 5"....

As usual with 'higher mileage' cars...

Rust
Bushings
Transmission Fluid
Head Gasket
Leaky Valve Covers
Jittery Speedometer
Leaky Targa Seals
Leaky Hacth Seals

$4,400 is WAY expensive for an 89. I wouldn't pay more than $3 if it's in stock form.

whoops, gen 4 (typo)... 98 SE is a little out of my grasp atm

I wouldn't pay $4.4 for it, my budget is about 3500... However 3400 seems reasonable enough, as I can't find anything else within 400 miles that isn't a total pos with crap interior and more miles... Everything in good condition is going for 4k easily, most around 5-7k.

So would 3.4k with a broken ac seem reasonable? Any ideas on what that would run me?

7mgte was known for head gaskets so check that out first as it'll run about 1k to have replaced if it fails.
A/C can be quite expensive if your talking reman compressor, evap, condensor, drier, expansion valve/orrifice tube. See if the compressor runs and if it does so smoothly the rest can be fixed fairly cheaper (<$500)

If it's real clean it's worth $3500 in my opinion, lot of car for the $, if tranny is sound
