7mgte coolant system

OK, I have a 91 7mgte with around 50,000 miles on the engine and about 110,000 on everything else. THREE TIMES NOW, I have to replace the 90 deg. rubber elbows that come out of the water pump and into the thermostat, and the elbow on the back of the block (that runs into it i guess?). This is really starting to piss me off. Anyone else had this happen to them, it's like my water pump is putting out way too much pressure in my coolant pipes.

After the first two times, I used a 3/4" ID copper elbow and two 1" rubber connector hoses to hook the copper elbow to the block and thermostat housing. ---->the 1" rubber elbow bottlenecked out and exploded the other day right when I pulled into the parking lot at work at 4:30am. What else can I do? Ithought about running a longer rubber coolant hose around my intake tube...i just cant figure it out.....

Get better pipes? I've never heard of this one before.

it's got to be more than the pipes....it's the stock elbow directly out of the water pump. I was wondering maybe if a US water pump on a Japanese engine or vice versa would affect this problem (although I'm pretty sure that the imported engines come with water pumps on them already).

See, even your JDM engine came with a water pump on it.

Maybe excessive cooling system pressure??? Try a new rad cap, other than that I would be sure to use OEM hoses.

Good luck.

[QUOTE=bosco659]Maybe excessive cooling system pressure???

Could be caused by a bad radiator cap.

Thx dax115, I corrected my post - I meant rad cap, not thermostat
