Hey everyone, i'm thinking of buying this 1997 supra turbo, it has about 51,000 miles on it. Its in almost perfect condition, the engine runs great with no problems and its always been garage kept. The thing is, i was looking for a manual, but this one is automatic. My question is, is it hard to find and swap a manual transmission from another supra onto the supra i'm planning on buying? also, do you guys think that this supra is worth 6,900? my friends tell me its a great deal, but i'd rather here from you supra guys. Thanks alot for your help and i appreciate any replies...
ummm for 6900? that sounds too good 2 b tru...is it a salvage title vehicle? run a carfax to be sure...don't take n e one's word. take it 2 a mechanic u know and trust b4 u purchase it...a tranny swap is not as easy as it sounds...because u need to take in2 account, the ecu change, the tranny, tha clutch pedal assembly, the slave cylinder, and n e thing else ur gonna break along tha way . but for 6900...let us know wuts up wit it...if u dnt want it...i'll throw it on my lot and get rid of it in tha same day
peace
Either it's an absolute STEAL or something's SERIOUSLY wrong with it. Be careful.
In terms of tranny conversion: In short, yes, it's possible, but I think a search of the SupraForums or related places will give you many more details.
edit: Don't completely trust CarFax, run one on my old Cressida and it won't tell you that there's odometer rollback. Though by now, it will tell you that the car has a "JUNK" title.
hey thanks for the replies, well when i asked the seller, he said that it has a clear title. also, the guy currently lives in london, but the car itself is us. spec. since he's so far away i can't get it to a mechanic to check...so doy ou guys have any other suggestions to what i can do to make sure this thing is legit? Thanks
OH and concerning the tranny swap...haha didn't know that it was so complicated, so i'll prolly just keep it automatic for now until i get everything set and ready, thanks though

It's a SCAM! do NOT do it! they do that shit all the time on ebay! he will tell you to front him half the cash, and you pay the rest on delivery, nothing will be delivered, and because its western union which isn't insured like your regular bank, your cash will be gone and you will be pissed...where'd you find this car? i'm betting its ebay?

well i found it on yahoos used autos, not ebay, but i see what your saying. also, he said that if i go through with it. the money transaction will be done by squaretrade.he says he has a purchase protection account with them.
anyone ever heard of/or dealt with squaretrade? is it legit?
he says my money will be 100% insured, and that squaretrade will make sure he recieves full payment and that i recieve the car on time.
another thing is that he says that if i'm not satisfied with the car at all, (like if he didn't tell me of a huge electrical problem or something) squaretrade will refund my money 100% the amount i paid.
dependable auto shippers is who will be delivering the car, within 4 to 5 days is stated. also, it comes with the clear title paper work, the manual, and all original paperwork and documentation.
so yah..haha now......considering all of this...what do you guys think? thanks alot though, i appreciate all the help......
Mk4 Supras do NOT go for cheap, I don't care the condition, type, or location of the car. On top of that, London? Uh uh. Scam. Scam. Scam. Scam. Scam. Scam. Scam. Scam.
Just an FYI
