First thing to do for more power...

1988 supra turbo 5spd. Bone stock. what would you guys recommend to speed it up a little. I'm not talking bigger turbo or anything but the obvious things to do. I've been a VW tuner for years but i'm new to the Supra. What works and what doesn't?

first things...
intake filter for turbo...
exhaust...get a 3 inch dpipe, and full 3 inch exhaust...that'll give you some nice power..
550 cc injectors, lexus afm...
manual boost controller, turn the boost up a little bit.

If you've been in the 1.8T scene at all, there are some tricks that you could probably apply

1.8T = the four cylinder turbo motor found in Golfs, Jettas, New Beetles, Passats, Audi A4's, etc... there's a lot of potential when it comes to modding those motors. More complex electronics than a 7M-GTE though, I'd be willing to assume. Don't know too much beyond that.

I think he was just talking about in general. Other than a the electronics, tricks that typically work on boosted cars, work on boosted cars. There's nothing special those VW Guys know that we don't. Other than how to ridiculously engineer vehicles... ;-)

Original cannot be worked. It's a much larger part. It flows more air and has a passage that allows more unmetered Air through. When's all said and done the reason the 550cc's and the Lex. AFM work so well is the fact that when you run the numbers the extra fuel, and the extra air that's coming in perfectly balance out.

So:
- 550cc's without the Lexus AFM = too much fuel, too rich, potential for cylinder wash.
- Lexus AFM without 550cc injectors = too little fuel, uber-lean, detonation and destruction of valves, pistons and cylinders.
