power windows

ok suddenl my windows wont work. the passenger side has been screwed since i bought it, but today suddenly it driver side went down and wont go back up.

for those that read my previous thread about my car not starting, i fixxed that with a fuse(long story). would putting a fuse in blow a window relay possible? the window makes no noise at all, i checked the connection on the switch its fine. no thing else has changed except replacing the ALT fuse.

is there anyway to short connect the wires somewhere to at least get my window Up so its not left down while i trouble shoot the problem?

It could be a number of things. Dead motor, bad connection, etc. However, in mine, I know the switch physically broke. I could roll my passengerside window down, but not up. I replaced it and all was well. Can you roll up the windows from the passenger side but not the drivers side or is the passenger side window not work from anywhere?

You can check fuses, but I don't recall if the windows have one offhand (been a while since I was in the fusebox). It never hurts to go through with a pair of needle nose and pull each one to see if it's blown or not. When I was having electrical issues, I'd do it frequently.

at first the passenger window would only work from the driver control, it would go down with one push of the button. it would take many tries to get it to go back up. then it eventually stopped going up altogether. it doesnt seem like a motor problem to me at least because once it starts to go up its fine it doesnt struggle or stop half way. now my driver side is doing the same thing, one push of the button the window goes down fine but takes forever to get it to go back up. the actual switch looks fine no obvious bad connections or loose wires. i was thinking it had to be a faulty fuse or wire connection somewhere.

You have to disassemble the switch. Back in the day, there was a cleaning writeup on www.supras.com . If it is still there, try that. You take the finger control portion of the switch off to access and clean the copper spring contacts inside. I did mine about 5 years back when I had similar problems and all has been well since. Careful with the springs, as tehy tend to pop out.
