7MGE Intake differences?

I noticed that the JDM 7MGE has a different intake setup than the USDM endines. The JDM engine places the thottle body directly over the center two plugs and has alarge aluminum Y that connects it to the upper plenum, whereas on the USDM engines the throttle body mounths directly to the upper plenum.

I would assume that the JDM intake would be superior in terms of performance because the air has a more direct path to the cyls.. While it makes it a pain in the a** to get to the center plugs on the JDM version, is the performance of this setup worth the hassle? I currently have both versions and need help deciding which one to put on the engine when I re-assemble it.

Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Dan.

In my opinion, I don't think it will make a negligible difference.

Well, in my experience, the 'Y' intake part is on Supras, and the 'other' setup (no 'Y') is used on the Cressida. The exhaust is also setup different. Supra 'breathes' better.

you might be right: the Cressida 7M-GE is rated at 190hp/185lb-ft.

I've seen under the hood of many Cressida's and Supras.

Yeah, but it's just a matter of figuring where that 10hp is from - likely nailed down to the the intake and exhaust, but what potential other things?

I believe the better engine breathing due to the intake and exhaust is where the extra 10hp comes from. Plus, the ECU is different, so it is programmed different. My friend over at the Toy dealer said I could not inter-change them. The igniter and coil is different part #s too. Sooo...???
