yea clicking noise when u push gas eh mine does that as well nota blown hg is it???? get code 25 from diag- mixture running lean --o2 sensor out on down flow was told mimics exhaust leak??? mine has same symptoms but still runs starts up every morning like a champ
An exhaust leak can sound vaguely similar to a knock. The timing is different though and it's usually inconsistent. Don't ask me why, but I've seen it first hand.
Replace the engine over a head gasket? Are you kidding? Replace the gasket.... the only engine's you'll find are used and most shops that sell rebuilt used ones do a rather poor job. There are only a couple shops I'd even consider buying a rebuilt engine from.
If you don't know the sound it's hard to say... could be a nasty miss too. I'd listen to the block with a stethoscope to see if it's coming from the top end or the bottom end first. Then, I'd disconnect the plug wires, one at a time, until I don't hear the sound. If you pull one and the engine doesn't suddenly run rougher than when it was plugged in or the noise goes away you know which cylinder it is and you know it's not an exhaust leak.
Rod knock and fine exhaust leaks sound different, but if you haven't heard both before you won't know which it is.
