Hello Eveyrone, I just got a used (new to me) Camry LE 03. Unfortunatly, it does not have the JBL Audio package (but is great otherwise). I had a few questions about some basic aftermarket upgrades.
My ultimate goal is to not spend too much ($500-700 *ideally*) and have reasonable audio as well as Sirius Radio.
My initial thought is to get an entry level head unit such as a
Kenwood DPX302 or similar and re-use my SIR-KEN1 tuner from my last car if I can (I know that running the sirius through the HU reduces the experience compared to a stand alone unit, I'm okay with that).
Also, everything would be professional installed. I feel comfortable doing a head unit, but I ran the antenna for the sirius in my last car and that was enough.
My questions about this are:
- Will the head unit improve the overall sound quality of the stock speakers?
- Is it worth it getting a cheap amp for the stock speakers?
- I've read the stock speakers are a custom size and any aftermarket speakers require extra work to install. How much of a problem is this for professional installers (ie does it cause damage to the car or get really expensive)?
- How is the installer likely to run the Sirius antenna? Whats a common installation for Camry's?
-Whats the best use of my money here?
Again, I'm hoping for "good enough" here not perfection - which I respect, but can't afford
