Like 91MR2 said, they do have spikes on the underside.

Personally I put the OEM carpeted mats away and use aftermarket (such as Crappy Tire) all-weather rubber mats instead, but they don't fit properly and will move after certain periods of driving. I always try to pull it back into the right place before I set off each time.
