Unhappy Bad News....

Ok, as im sure at least a few of you knew that i have been planning my enigine swap for some time now...

Well Dave from Paautoracing.com did an awesome job of putting it together by my flight date, and it ran sooo well. For a while there, my dream had come true, all the years of saving finally paid off....

On the way back down to the panhandle of FL, (my father and i were taking turns driving) my dad wasnt paying enough attention and skimmed the side of a truck parked practically on the white line on the side of the road at about 70mph...

the truck suffered about no damage, my two however is really messed up. every body panel on the passenger side needs to be replaced, and i need an entire door assembly, passenger window, steering wheel, and windshield.

I think my dad felt worse than i did, i was depressed, but he was crushed since he had watch me save for an MR2 since middle school, while all the other kids spent their money on video games and clothes.

Both my dad and i walked away with minor scratches, and the insurance company should take care of my car, granted i can prove it is worth way more than what they say it is.

If any of you out there have any body panels, a door, a window, or any of the parts i need (ill get a more specific list up when i know what else is wrong with it) i would appreciate a post or an email. Poopashoo@yahoo.com

Sigh... looks like i will be waiting a bit longer...

OMG ... I'm so sorry to hear this Dane.

You will bounce back from this ~ trust me.
I totalled many MR2s when I was much younger and
if you want it, it will come back.

I know that might be hard to see right now, but it will.

Good luck man.

wow!, I'm glad no one was seriously hurt. but I know you've been on this project for awhile now and you were happy as hell when it was finished. I feel for you. I hope the insurance company takes good care of you and you're able to get it back on the road soon. I take it the engine is still in good condition...thats a big plus....it'll be OK...Take care

Thanks for all your support guys. Looks like i will have about $6800 repair bill (that was the estimate). This will be very close to totaling the car, since it is worth more than your average MR2.

evo_mr2: it was a gen.2 turbo.

I will likely need to pay a grand or so out of pocket to keep the insurance company from totaling it and get it back on the road.

I might actually take you up on your offer MR2BAD , but ill keep everyone informed of the repair process, i may not need a front bumper, im just waiting for the list of everything that is wrong with the car.

I took pics of her, ill try and get them up tonight.

I dont let my dad drive.. I dont let anyone drive my car. I'm glad your okay man, and I hope the swapped engine is running strong... just take it easy, fix one thing at a time and you'll get through this...

Awesome! what are you picking up this new MR2 for? a parts car? I wouldnt want to destroy your MR2 to rebuild mine. But nonetheless im still interested in sourcing parts for fixing her...

all i am waiting on is the list of things wrong with her (other than the obvious). Then ill post/email you and hopefully work something out.
