I'm experienced in another forums so yes I have searched. I cannot figure out the VIN on my gf's MR2. The 10th digit on the windshield is a K, but both doors is a C. How I came to find out was I was trying to find a powersteering belt at 2 parts stores and they looked at me as an idiot. I called my buddy who is a Toyota Technician and my routing is correct; however why am I only getting stupid looks when the parts guys say it doesn't have a power steering belt? I've routed one belt to the alternator, crank, and pump, but there are 2 pulleys left, the powersteering and crank. What am I doing wrong? Is it the difference in the year models? Its N/A by the way.
Doh! Imagine my embarrassment. I'm waiting on Advanced Auto to get the Haynes manual in soon. Well let me ask this... what does the other pulleys go to? One goes to the crank and then to some other pulley that is adjustable up or down.
edit: I was going to do an MR2 alternator conversion on my current 4Runner but was told that the turbo versions were the only ones with electric powersteering?

Nope, if your MR2 has power steering, it is electric. Doesn't matter if it's turbo or NA.
As for what pulleys it could be: There are 2 pulleys that come from the crank. The inside one goes to the rear of the car, to the alternator. The 2nd belt goes to the A/C and tensioner.
Thisi s what my turbo looks like. I believe the NA is similar, but don't quote me 100% on this. Maybe somebody can verify.

I don't believe there is an MKII Haynes manual?? .... freaking auto parts stores. You are pretty much stuck buying factory repair manuals.

What the heck are they trying to sell me?! I swear I hate parts people. *Rant on* our own parts people at my work just plain suck. They take forever on the phone to talk to their buddies and always give us the wrong parts stealing our commission times when we have to wait a few more days! *Rant off* Well it seems to me the compressor belt and alternator belts both want to interfere with each other so that's out of the way.

Yeah I saw that in the sticky just awhile ago. Well what do I do about the belts interfering with each other at the compressor and alternator? I only see A/C, alternator, 2 crank, and an idler pulleys. The A/C and alternator seems to line up with each other but from what you guys are telling me is that they are independent belts but if I put separate belts they just rub right next to each other.
the crankshaft pulley should have 2 slots on it. the further inside slot is for the alternator drive belt and the outside slot is for the A/C drive belt.
They shouldn't rub, the slots are grooved for the teeth of the belts to sit in.

Alright I will try it again tomorrow morning and see if it works. I'm sure I will have the same results but am desperate to get this thing going so my gf would quit bugging me for the 4Runner. Thanks!
There's nothing wrong with high compression. The only problem is that they're more than 14psi away from each other. But I've actually hear people say a 25psi difference is still acceptable.
try pouring a little oil into the low ones, and see if that helps the compression come up.
