Body & Boost

Has anyone here removed those side moldings that run all the way down the MKII's, if so how invloved is it. And i was wondering how much boost the stock turbo can hold until it hits fuel cut? THANKS.

I have no idea what you are talking about with the "rubber strips."

Fuel cut happens at 12 psi on the 91 and 92 MR2s.
The 93+ MR2s it is as 16 psi. IIRC.

Doc, I think he's talking about the side moldings...I have never removed mine, but it's not hard to do. but you will have an open gap there that you will need to fill or it will look like sh*t...

Yes, painting it is better unless you are going to smooth it in with the rest of the body.. which can get very expensive. God I love black.

Hypothetically speaking, if I had a 91 MR2 with fuel cut defencer, I would be able to run 16psi stock EVERYTHING right? Because I dont think anything is different between the other model years in terms of engine management and such.

15psi is probably safer without an upgraded intercooler.

I would not ever go over 15 psi with the factory turbocharger, the CT26.

So if 15 psi is safe and 1 psi does not make much of a difference then 16 psi is safe?
So if 16 psi is safe and 1 psi does not make much of a difference then 17 psi is safe?
So if 17 psi is safe and 1 psi does not make much of a difference then 18 psi is safe?
So if 18 psi is safe and 1 psi does not make much of a difference then 19 psi is safe?
So if 19 psi is safe and 1 psi does not make much of a difference then 20 psi is safe?
So if 20 psi is safe and 1 psi does not make much of a difference then 21 psi is safe?

It's your engine, do as you wish ... that extra 1 psi to get to 16 is not going to reap significant enough HP to justify the significant increase in detonation (risk to engine).
