ToyotaTechGeek BRAKE/STEER/THROTTLE Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Dagobah Posts: 1,406 Gameroom cash: $49620 Thanks: 2 Thanked 5 Times in 5 Posts iTrader Score: 3 reviews	well, could be your speedo cable and/or your speedo gear. sometimes when the MkI doesn't have a good earth ground, it 'searches' for ground and sometimes 'finds' the speedo cable which in-turn gets 'fried'. or if the car was sitting for awhile, not being driven, it's possible that the gear got chewed due to the gear shaft not getting lubed and the friction got to be great.
