Wheel Spacers

Hi !
I am looking to fit a wide bodykit to my SW20 MR2, but the RTA here in Australia does not allow the use of wheel spacers or bolt on hub extensions! Is there any other way of modifying the standard setup to space the wheels outwards?

Thanks

Craig

you'll just have to get wider, deep set rims. 9" or 10"- expensive, but it's the best way to go.

if you get the wheel centerline too far outwards from the spindles you are in for a wild ride

it helps in most cases and keeps the tires straight up and down . instead of slanting outwards like so many guys who put on wide tires and rims without addressing the camber issue. I guess alot will depend on how wide he has to go with his wide body kit to meet the edge of the fender wells. but I think he would be OK with a 9 or 10" rim. and I am only talking about the rear.. lots of guys run 8" without problems.
what are you thinking?

I know what you mean about camber, but i was talking about getting the centerline of the wheel too far away from the spindle, I have driven cars that people stick these wheels on and they are eather way too big around or too far out away from the spindles, this is a disaster to the front end geometry and driving it past 45mph is a real hand full

I agree with you 100%. he won't have any trouble doing the front end. it's the back thats so wide, it's gonna take some wide rims to get there. he can prolly use a 7 or 8" rim up front with the proper offset and get the results he wants. but the rear end is a different story. along with a camber kit I would also reccomend some very stiff struts. preferably adjustable and some good springs too. one of the prices he'll have to pay for having the widebody.

Thanks for the replies! The body size increases by 4 inches PER SIDE at the back and 2 inches per side at the front, am I right in thinking that i should go to a 10" width wheel at the back and a 8" wheel width at the front?

8" fr and 10" rr sounds good to me. but I'm sure you want to get the tires as close to the edge of the fender wells as possible. the off set is whats gonna get you there.4DMR2t is really good with those numbers. PM him. I bet he can help you with that more than I.

Is this the TRD Widebody kit you'll be using, or a custom WBK?
