N/A to Turbo

I'm trying to buy an 2nd gen MR2, and I can only seem to find N/A ones. I have a WRX now, and would like to have a turbo in this too.

Are there any reliable turbo kits for the 5SFE?
Also I am not opposed to building a kit either, so does anyone know where I can get a good manifold also?

Thanks in advance guys.

hey man..i have a 5SFE and i dont even believe it can support a turbo. So if ya want a turbo in an MR2, buy a N/A, then swap the engine for a 3SGTE. I dunno if there is another turbo-able engine out there that can fit into an N/A without many adjustments. But, you will have to get a better tranny and a whole bunch of other stuff, not much of the stock stuff on an N/A can support the power of a turbo. (im not completely sure of anything ive said above, but thats what ive found out so far from my research.)

i heard the 5sfe has a stronger block then the 3sgte, yes u can turbo it, but on low boost
it has been done, some blow some still alive.
but you never be close to a 3sgte
and cost of a clip is roughly the same cost.

Since I have posted the thread I have 2 turbo kits.

But I don't know how reliable they are. I have considered swapping in the 3SGTE, but I don't know what's all involved. Can you use the same harness? What about axles? Or ECU?

ur gearbox will fit the 3sgte, but remember its not designed for turbo power, so itl be very fragile, if u want a 3sgte gearbox lsd u have to use turbo axels, hubs as they are more beefier...

u need a 3sgte ecu, unless u run a standalone, body harness is different but you can splice it.
also u neeed to change ur fuel pump.

If u have a half cut turbo u have no problem. As everything is there.

Good read :

Well I figured if the gearbox did fit, a clutch would be an immediate fix, and I also figured as much with the fuel, since that is common with most N/A to turbo swaps.

Other than that, is the harness the only thing I have to worry about? What would have to be spliced?
