Longer studs/open ended nuts

I came across this site http://www.trackstore.co.uk/wstuds.html while researching at MR2OC.

However the thread doesnt say what a mk.2 owner would need to purchase.

Anyone offer up some help? Which on that site i would need to order?

I need the nuts, but i may as well not cut any corners and get the studs also. I am buying enkie RP-01s, the owner says i only actually need the open ended nuts. Is this true?

Thanks.

open end nuts are gauranteed to fit . the closed ones would have to be perfect. i used open ended tuner lugs. they are skinnier to accomodate the small holes that alot of after market rims come with. plus the studs will not extend beyond the end of the lug nuts..why do you think you need to change the studs?

Not really 100% sure what you're talking about here, but I think I have an idea.

If you're adding Enkei RP01's to your MR2, you'll only need some tuner nuts. Basically, they are thinner than your stock nuts. The holes on the Enkei's are much smaller than those on you stock wheels.

Generally, people purchase the longer studs to accomidate wheel spacers. If you're new rims are the proper offset and you're not using wheel spacers, new studs aren't necessary.

Hope that helps a bit. BTW, what size and offset are your new RP01's?

I was just thinking ahead for the future, as i dont know what rims ill have on my MR2 when she is "finished", but i guess since i dont need them now, i can wait.

My RP01s are bronze, 16x7 +35 front and 16x8 +38 rear. tire sizes are 205-45-16 front and 245-45-16 rear.

(i was thinking of throwing 215 or 225s on the front when the tires run low... let me know what you guys think)

The "Toyota" package for studs on that website is what you need. They work GREAT!

Sounds like a pretty good offset for the MK2.

They will fit nicely, and they're probably about as close as you can go to flush without having to roll the fenders.

You could put 215 or 225 on the front with that offset. You shouldn't have any rubbing problems. Since you have 245's on the 8's, 225's on the 7's will make the tires look more matching as far as buldge goes. If that's even important to you.

If you're going for pure performance, and handling characteristics, it all depends on your driving style. If you find yourself oversteering alot, keep the smaller tires up front. If you feel you understeer more than you'd like, try 215's or 225's up front.

Jeff might be able to shed a little more light on this matter as well.

BTW, Enkei RP01's are a sweet wheel for the MK2. in my opinion of course.

225s will fit up front, but I do not necessarily recommend it.
They tend to "track" the road a lot ~ especially considering on tire brand/type.
215s are what I would run up front for street driving.

I run open ended lugs on Hyde, but I have to as NHRA needs to see the length of the studs since I have lug-centric rims. Since I added longer studs, I also run open lugs on my road race rims as well.
