New Mr2, New Question

yea i sold my old corrola engined mr2 and bought a '93 mr2 w/ 2.2L engine, i was wondering if i could buy a turbo for it, and if i could, would i be able to make it fit if i pulled the engine out first?

Corrola engined MR2? hhhmmm....
your '93 2.2 is not a good choice to turbo charge. it can be done, but at GREAT expense and head ache. it would be cheaper and easier to buy a turbo charged engine(the 3sgte from another MR2) and do the swap. I think you will find that is the general consensous here on TN

Isn't the 2.2 in the MR2 the same as the one in the corolla, just tuned differently?

It's much easier in the long run to do the swap if you want big power. Search the forum for swaps and you'll find out a lot. I think they generally run between 3 and $5,000.

if i did decide to turbocharge the 5sfe, could i go over 300hp?, and i was looking at this one bnr turbo for the mr2, its the 4th stage, and it said w/ the write applications it could bring an mr2 up to 400hp, is it only referring to the turbo engine or a 5sfe turbo conversion?

Project, it will be alot cheaper just to do a swap. SPECAILLY if you are shootin for 250+. Im not too sure why (i guess its because you would have to upgrade the 5SFE so much just to get it turbo capable, you could have the 3SGTE swaped in for that price.

4th Generation 3k?5K? how about five hundred?

how much will it cost? i saw on ebay a complete turbo for the 5sfe and i mean the hole turbo (injectors, trotle body, intercoler, turbo with manifol, down pipe & the ecu) all of it for 168$ plus 60 for shiping and it was a buy now item. Of course tha that was the best deal i have ever saw and i wanted to buy it but i neded to catch up on my payments at the bank not make it worse, so you need all of the things y just mentioned plus very important a thick head gasket to lower the compresion (about 8.5) but you can chosse ANY compresion you want. This head gaskets cost like 88$ add all of it and it would it cost me like 320$ plus the swap but i woul done it my self (give me credit on the istalation i made my auto to stick in 2 days) and if you go with the 5sfe youll get preety much the same hp than the 3s-ge but wit allot more torque. But the down side its that you cant reech hig hp number like 3sgte so if you are aiming 300 hp the 5sfe will do the work. Another thing, the turbo pakage that i saw its hard to find one like that, i mean the hole thing, so if you buy separated items you will be aiming for about 400 (if you look at good deals) plus all the shipings

$168.00+ $60.00 shipping... i hate to pop your bubble bud, but that is either a mistake or a POS!

It would actually be cheaper to sell the one you ahve now and buy a turbo one, that way you dont have to chop it up, and its probably only $1000 difference in price.
