Porshe 944 or Mr2?

hey, my friend is tryin to decide between the 2, and i was just trying to figure out which would be the better deal? Which car is better? Looking at them they both look tight and they both handle really well. From what ive seen porshe 944 are a little bit more expensive, but not by much(i acually havent been able to find many of them on the net). And the insurance is pretty much the same, porshe is a little bit more but only by about $50. I love my Mr2 and doubt id ever buy a 944, but im tryin to convince him. From what he said (not sure if its entirely true) the lower end(non turbo i believe) 1986(the year hes lookin at gettin) has 170hp and weighs 3300lb. So which would be the better buy?

it would be N/A mr2. Because Turbo mr2/porshe insurance is WAY too much. So it would be 130hp on the mr2 or 170 on the porshe. But then porshe 944 is hard to find in good condition for a decent price and parts are hard to get. Does anyone know how easy it is to upgrade a porshe(to lets say 300whp)? But performance wise, lets compare the turbo mr2(200hp) and the porshe turbo(217hp). How would they compete, anyone know the good parts of a porshe?

I don't understand this question?????

Any Porsche is going to be very expensive to modify. parts are not readily available. many u would have to fabricate yourself. of course, if you have very deep pockets, anything is possible...

944's Weight > MR2's Weight
944's Price > MR2's Price
944's Part's Price > MR2's Parts Price
944's Insurance Cost > MR2's Insurance Cost

I guess if he wants the greater car, he should go with the 944

Search up my thread, You'll learn a lot.

One thing to know is that the 944 is an interference engine so maintenence is a lot everytime.

I had a 83 944, this car has sweet handling with its 50/50 weight distribution. this is not a car to go drag racing with. the engine is a sohc 2.5l four. the turbo(86) is a whole other story with the same 2.5l with a turbo and lsd. I think the last of the bunch was the dohc 2.7l 944s that might give a mr2 a run for its money.
if you like working on cars then the 944 isn't bad. I did all the seals and belts on it myself, new shocks and poly euro bushings. I think the body style is classic with its flaired fenders, looks very muscular. you can get one very cheap and fix it up yourself. parts can be found at performanceproducts.com.
I wish I had a mr2 to compare it to but all I have is a 3sgte.

not the 944, but a 914. But then again im bias toward a 914, b/c i own one . But i'd choose the mr2, i doubt your friend would like to pay for the slightly expensive repairs on a 944.
