Question SuSpEnSiOn QuEsTiOn??

I am looking at 2 different suspension set ups for my 2. One is a Buddy Club, and the other is Cusco, both are full coilover kits. I was just wondering if any1 had either one of these setups? OR if neone has suggestions that can push me in the right direction. Thanks all for your help.

I've never looked into coilovers as I am quite content with my H&R springs and KYB struts.

Good luck with your search.

I dont trust KYB one bit. I had 3 sets of struts on a Previa project and they all blew out on me.

Hrm, that's not good. I just put AGX's in my car last summer.

What kind of time frame did you have before they blew? What kind of driving were you doing?

I would have to say maybe within a 100K mile timeframe, never taking the car over 65 (because the tranny pretty much doesnt allow it) Its a 5 speed

CompanyFlow .... please tell me you are kidding.
You are critizing KYB's for not lasting 100,000 miles?!
How long did you expect them to last?!

I have KYB's on Hyde and I have been beating on them for 4 years.
Jekyl has them in the rear and I am looking to get them upfront this winter.

Why does Jekyl only have them on one end and need them on the other?
Because the Tokikos that were on the car blew out.

I am running tanabe springs over KONI yellows, before that I was running bilstiens. The bilstiens gave me an extra .5 degrees of neg. camber but the konis are adjustable. I liked both quite a bit. I ran 30 autocrosses this year and discussed coilovers with some friends that run on Tiens. The coilovers offer tons of adjustment and easier corner weighting but the front springs seem to have too high a spring rate, on a rough surface the cars front was bouncing and skipping. It really depends on what you want. For competition I would recomend a strut/spring combo, there is a good bit of adjustment to be had out of this and it also lands you in the ballpark from the start. I found that less adjustment=less to screw up. Coilovers on the otherhand are probably the better choice for show or street since you can do more radical dropping and change ride hieght at will....keep in mind that any change in ride hieght will affect your toe and camber so an alignment will be needed after every change.

I've only put about 30K miles on mine. I was on #2. but a couple of months ago I went to setting #1.. #2 was pretty stiff for everyday street use. I'm curious to see how many miles I do get out of them. if the Doc is going on 4 yrs with his, then I'm hoping i'll get 75-100k out of them. which at this rate would be about 4 yrs. also..maybe 5...that would be awsome...

No, not one set in 100k miles, all three sets, and with freeway driving. I would have expected them to last longer than that.

What the flamin who-de-who you talkin about? I've had my '91 NA up to 105mph on a very small road course (we call it 'The Bicycle Path') and had lots of gearing left to go. You must just not be feeding your hampster very well. http://www.scottbarton.net/videos/twinmotormr2.wmv

Does anyone know what a reasonable expectation of lifespan should be?
