Planned Air intake Mod... please suggest

Hey all, need suggestions as far as air intake is concern.

I checked a couple of site, and they all said its possible to remove the air box from the throttle body (This is a 85 AW 11 I am talking about), but it will be a hassle if I have air conditioning. The mechanics that worked at the car said the Air Condition is a seperate unit, and removing the Air box will NOT be a concern, so which shold I believe?

Now, second thing, there is virtually no room for a high flow air intake, so, I planned on installing a pipe which turns close to 90 degree (will 90 degree be too much) and extend the intake to the trunk, I will drill a hole between the engine comartment and the trunk, this way it will also be "cool down" air that is being sucked in?

on the pipe that goes between the throtle body and AFM, there is a
vaccum hose, with the AC there is a nother hose or connector that goes
there, you have to keep that piece connected there. That is all that you
have to worry about with air intake mod and having ac. I think you get more air flow in the engine compatment when the car is moving. On 87+ MR2's they have the intake in the trunk, but they also have a platic pipe that leads air to the trunk from the side vent on the pass. q-panel.
If you use the small rubber hose from home depot and an HKS intake, you will be able to have your entire intake in one strainght line in the engine compartment.
