Theoretical Question
I remember reading somewhere that the MR2 only puts down about 80% of it's power at the fly to the wheels. If this is true, then a 3rd gen 3SGTE in my 1992 N/A should give me 196 hp (it is rated at 245 hp). Now, I also realize the engine is over 10 years old and the chassis is 14 years old, so I'm sure they've both experienced at least some degradation in their lifetimes.
My question is this: From experience, realistically, what can kind of power can I expect to produce on a dyno with this swap? This is assuming I do the complete swap without any mods on top of that (intake, exhaust, stock boost, basicially no power primers). I guess you can also assume that the swap has been done correctly and the engine has been properly tuned (if I were to swap, I'd get it done by Dave @ PA Autoracing). The reason I ask is because, as I'm sure you all know, an engine swap is not cheap, and I would like to get an idea of the power gains I can expect before I start investing.
As always, thanks for the input...
