New here, have a couple questions about transmissions and turbos on MR2s

My current ride is a 98' VW GTi VR6 with an SC61 turbo, reliably putting down ~400whp. The problem is, I have already broke 3rd and 4th gear. From what it looks like, I'm going to keep breaking gears, especially if I want to run slicks at the track. A gearset that can hold the power is very expensive and I also need aftermarket axles as well. So I was contemplating a different car that is rwd, light, and turbo. The mr2 seems nice, but what kind of transmission mods are necessary for 400hp, if any?

stock tranny should hold fine...but if your running slicks...could be problems...i am close to 400rwhp and on stock tranny with LSD..but i will never run slicks at the track...good old street tires will have to do..too scared of breaking something...lol..

Didn't J&H actually break an axel with slicks at 440whp?

if you look at ATSracing.com they say that the stock axles can break at 300whp. So they have reenforcing things that you can buy. They said the stock tranny is good for up to 500whp, i believe. Of course stuff can go wrong though.
