I know suspension prolly comes up alot but there is no point in bringing backto life an old thread... im gonna have around a grand to spend .... I was gonna do wheels but after thinking about it my suspension is junk and i need that fixed before i go wheels and more power.... so i figured i would get the tein basics set....with shocks and springs.... what do you guys think about that setup???is there something better??? Let me know what you all think,...thanks

It might help a bit if we know more about what your plans are for the car. Is it a commuter or will it see alot of drag, road course or autocross action?
A good set of springs and dampers should really improve the feel of your car. Although which dampers and springs are right for you will depend alot on what you want to use the car for.
its a daily driver..... that will be drag raced in the 1/8 locally i just want something that will make the car look good and feel good.... i kno i need new shocks too... and most the people ive talked to are happy with tein... The stock stuff makes noises and rattles its def in need to be replaced
i figured out as long as i buy struts n springs its gonna be around 700 bucks so i might as well do the tein setup.... i should be ordering it next week and have on sometime after ill leave you a message....
You can easily get struts and springs for $500 if you search around.
I got my first set of KYB AGX and Tein springs for $500, and installed them myself.
If you're only gonna be doing daily driving and 1/8 mile runs, I hardly see it worth it to drop the money on coil-overs. You should be more than happy with a decent strut/spring setup.
just my $0.02

well before u said taht i actually decided that i dont need tein shocks i just want the noise and shitty ride gone.... i did just waht u said earlier i was getting on to post i bought my tein sprins and kyg shocks only spent bout 470 bucks with install...not a bad deal....
I have the same setup on my 92 and I love it. Looks great, the ride isn't that bad, and it definately feels better in the turns. I got mine for about 500 total, I think. Ebay rules!

If you've got a lot of noise chances are good that you've got bushing issues too. At the very least you should be prepared to replace your front strut mounts; the bearing is prone to rusting out and the bushing to splitting.

hey frank, or whoever else has done this setup...i'm planning on getting these springs and struts and installing them myself as well...is there any other parts that i might need for the install? such as mounts and stuff like that? seeing as how the car is quite old, if i'm digging into the suspension i might as well replace anything that's worn out
You will very likely need new top mounts for the front. One of mine was toasted. Shock boots are a good idea also. twosrus.com has ones made for the mr2 for 16 bucks apiece IIRC. They replace the bumpstop also.
I think I got them at twosrus. I can't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure that's where I got them. It could have been auto zone though. I forget. They shouldn't be too hard to get though.
