92-93 mr2 diference?

i have seen several aftermarket parts that say that will fit from a range of years 91 to92 mr2 and 93 till 95 like the spark plug wires, rotors, etc. Can some one tell me the diferences. (im more interested in the mechanical specs) for example i know that the 93 and up comes whit a limited slip diferencial -lsd-

the 93+ rear suspension is "revised". some people like it better, some people don't like it as much as the older suspension.

the 93+ turbos have larger brakes.

the 93+ front lip is larger (94+ is color matched to the body).

IIRC, the 93+ 5SFE had a knock sensor added to it, along with the square plug wire boots.

94+ had different tail lights and a different rear wing.

that's all i can think of right now.

lets see in 91 the steering wheel fails to meet federal standards for crash protection. that was in 91 and 92 then air-conditioning expansion valve could malfunction reducing efficiency.

in 93 ac valve could still malfunction. suspension was upgraded to stffer springs and lengthened trailer arms and synchros in 5 speed were improved. they added wider tires 15 inch square spoke wheels and larger brake rotors and larger throttle body and retuned throttle cam.... If you wanna kno the diff in 94 and 95 just tell me

you say they are biger, but the fit is it the same? because on the after market said they only fit 93 and up, so i guess they are rong. Also you said stiffer springs? they alredy are!!! y guess ill be one of those who dont like it, but dont now till i try.

can some one please explain the limited slip diferencial? i know wat it does but...my 91 mr2 obiously does not have one but i se a PAIR of tire marks on the asphalt, and the two of them start at the same spot. Maybe the lsd can only be noticed on curves, rigth Also can some one tell me the diference betwen the 92-93 gears. Wich gears got shorter or longer, im rebuilding the transmision in 3 or 5 weeks Numbers of the gears would be better.

93+ does not guarantee limited slip, it was still an option.

The head on the 93+ 5sfe's was also designed to breath a little better.

From "howstuffworks.com":

Limited slip differentials use various mechanisms to allow normal differential action when going around turns. When a wheel slips, they allow more torque to be transferred to the non-slipping wheel.

If you want more detail you can find it here: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/differential7.htm

Specifically the Turbos. I believe that there were brake changes between 91-92 and 93+ NA cars, but I could be wrong. 93+ turbo cars recieved larger brake rotors and bigger brake calipers along with a new master cylinder. Those changes required the 93+ turbo cars to run 15" wheels to clear the brakes.

For the rear suspension, the 93+ cars have revisions to the rear tie rods (toe adjusters), rear cross member, lower control arm bushings and possibly the rear lower control arms. I'm not sure about the spring rates. The suspension was changed because at extreme load and compression, the 91-92 configuration could be pushed into a positive toe situation. The result is that most people will spin the car if a rear corner is overloaded.

That said, I expect that if you ran very stiff springs or coilovers and had the car's suspension properly dialed in, that problem would be minimized on the 91-92 cars. Also in the hands of experienced high-speed drivers (us track junkies) the toe issue seems to be manageable once you have a chance to learn the car's unique behavior. YMMV.

Spring rates were changed as well, but I'm not sure of the specs. The 93+'s sit at least 1 inch lower than the 91-92s.

^ The valve cover was redesigned in 93. The spark plug wire boots are square instead of circular.
