No, there is not a "blow off" valve. There is the stock BPV (by-pass valve) which is the one you want anyway.

All of that tin-foil heat-wrap on the intercooler pipes is an incredibly bad idea.

The blow-off valve (also called the diverter valve) will usually have three hoses connected to it. There will be to larger ones and one small one. The small one controlls the the behavior of the BOV and feeds from somewhere on the intake side after the turbo - right off the intake manifold is very common. The second and third hoses will be mid-sized. One will connect the BOV and the intake tract in front of the turbo; the other will connect the BOV and the intake tract after the turbo.

How it all works: The BOV is kind of like a "wastegate" for your intake tract; if the BOV sees too much intake presure building, it allows some of that presure to escape from the "after turbo" side back to the "pre-turbo" side. This is usually triggered when your intake suddenly changes presure. Good examples are lifting off the gas when you shift gears or when you stop accelerating from WOT.

Hope that helps!

hehe... jekyl, just give me your phone number bro... we can build my MR2 over the phone.

Im not getting the car in the picture.. the guy is being really shady with the deal, and everything Ive heard says this car isnt going to last because of the way he did the motor.

I was looking for a stock or close to stock one anyway.

I would only buy a stock turbo MR2 if you want to do it right ... unless you find a bargain-basement cheap one.

I found both in one car

Yes I have found a stock one with 160k miles on it.. and a few minor problems that I am going to fix next week... if I buy today.

After that, the modding will begin.

I never wanted to buy a car that someone had already modded,.. I love to learn and do the work myself, and this is my project.

I love advice from tested and knowledgable individuals,... so dont think Im not asking for help =)~

Jekyl-

Why is using heat wrap a bad idea on the IC pipes? I always thought they reduced the amount of radiant heat buildup in the pipes? Do you think they are collecting the heat, not allowing for the heat to escape?

Because its tin foil. All tin foil is going to do is radiate it.

Any heat wrap on the IC pipes is a bad idea - regardless of what it is made of.

It's a bad idea because the ambient air in the engine bay is going to be cooler than the boosted air. All you are doing is keeping the HOT boosted air inside the pipes. You are not allowing the pipes to radiate.

Why do you put heat wrap on exhaust pipes? To keep the heat INSIDE.
Is that what you want to do with your IC pipes?
