I took the 2 to the dynojet today for a baseline before I do anything to it..... dont know if its decent or not.
1991 MR2 Turbo, bone stock.. could use some maintence.
167194 Miles when dyno'd
1st Run: Max Power = 148.00 Max Torque = 166.4
2nd Run: Max Power = 152.3 Max Torque = 166.2
A/F Ratio started at 14.5, and quickly shot off the chart below 10.0 before I even reached 3000 rpms... and never came back above 10.0. Thats running REALLY REALLY RICH.
Also, I hit max Torque at 3000, and max power at 5000 rpm's, but shortly after I hit 5000 rpms, my power has a very steady decline downt to 80hp at 7000 rpm redline....
I will post the chart when I get my scanner hooked up... any idea's??

New TOYOTA cap, rotor, wires and plugs would be a good place to start.
A new fuel filter, oil change and either an open-air intake or just a new K&N drop-in filter.
Well it hasn't been sold in the Us in over 10 years, it is 16 years old.
and it had a relatively low production run ... did you expect stuff to be in stock for it?
Call Thompson Toyota to order your parts.
Talk to CraiggieB and tell him I sent you.
not really.... Im just used to going into autozone or advanced auto parts and getting what I need no questions asked... hehe
it made sense after he told me he didnt stock them.. hell im one of 2 MR2's in my area,...
i guess i just didnt think about it.
Seems like I have about $2000.00 worth of repairs to do. I have to replace all 4 rotors, and 2 of the wheel bearing assembly's,... a PCV Valve, A/C Compressor which I already ahve, just ahve to put the new one in,... and I found out today that the T-Top on the drivers side has a slight leak.. probably justa new seal will be good.. but having toyota check it out anyway... and the last thing is that the transmission cables rub when going into 2nd gear and reverse.. the guy that sold it to me said it wasnt the synchro's, but the actual cables themselves, and it shouldnt be that much to fix.
After that, just about everything but the paint will be brand new, and I cant wait to start modding.

autozone or advanced do NOT stock TOYOTA parts.
In case you did not catch that above, I would ONLY use TOYOTA cap, rotor and wires.
Get yourself some NGK 6097 plugs or the factory platinums.
Yeah I put autolite platinum plugs in it the other day with the oil change,.. and Im gonan look for the NGK plugs.
Im so antsy... cant wait to get my 2 running right. Ive already got the list of mods from that site you gave me.... just waiting for the car to get right.

well, the quest for a good running MR2 is very hard, because most people that have them, mod them.. and if you are lucky to find a stock, 55 yr old adult driven, 1 owner like I did, its got a piss load of miles on it. =)
Honestly, besides my wheel bearing making noise, you would have never known my car needed work... oh yeah and the rain drip on my head yesterday.
It could have been a lot worse.

don't believe that just cuz a car is stock it isn't beaten on...those cars are prolly the worst ones b/c their owners always want them to be faster w/o wanting to spend any money on it....my car may be "modded" but very well taken care of and driven with passion...
^^ I know that if I ever decide to sell my car the buyer will prolly get a hell of a deal on it. It will be in infinitly better shape than when I got it.

Leak down testes are always good to determine if all the cylinders are doing the same thing. sometimes rings in a particular piston are worn and you start to loose overall performance. but the #'s yo posted do seem a little low even if for an older car.
