Looking for 5sfe & 5spd trans.

Hey fellas,
Well, normally I am just a Porsche guy. I have a 944 Turbo but I really like the 2nd and 3rd Gen MR2s. I have a 1991 MR2 but the motor and trans is blown. It was my sisters car and she drove it with no oil. So, it over heated and spun a main bearing. And the trans wore out the syncros in 1st and 2nd gear too.

I am looking for a replacement engine/trans. I know that the real power comes from the 3sgte JDM motor, but I am looking to make a daily driver out of this car. So, there is no need for the added headaches of the turbo (I know what thats like from the 944). If anyone on this forum has a stock 5sfe 2.2L with trans in good condition I would like to purchase it. This isn't just a feeler post as I am ready to buy the motor/trans combo as soon as a good offer comes up. Please, if you can help me out, I will help you out. Maybe some one out there that has an MR2 NA that wants to do a 3sgte swap and wants to get rid of there 5sfe 2.2L and trans could make a some money toward there project. I would be happy to take them up on the deal. Thanks.

well i have a 92 mr2. its n/a. the only prob is that the number 3 piston lost some compression. the engine has 122-136k on it. and the tranny is good. it leaks a little oil from the pan. still runs strong, but im getting the gen3 3sgt3 like in less than a month. so i have no use for this engine. my plane was to run the ish out of it till something happened to it. but i have not done that yet. well just letting you know the condition and that i have one.

i swapped in a 3SGTE into my 91n/a chassis. engine (5SFE) ran strong and smooth when i pulled it. transmission shifts just fine, no grinding. email me if you're interested. i'm located in Omaha, NE, so shipping might be a little expensive. we can probably work something out.

I ended up chosing to have mine shipped from Lexington KY to Minneapolis MN because I was able to find a motor and a seller that I felt like I could be very confident in. There's something to be said for buying from someone that actually has firsthand knowledge of the item.

Yes BUUUUUT the shift linkage would be on the wrong side so you couldent use the transmission from a camry or celica.

I have at least 5 MR2 NA transmissions (In stock) as well as LOTS of e153 parts if you want to put a turbo tranny in there Of course they come with a 6 month warrentee. Let me know Sales@svengineering.org
