In order to prtect the engine from over boosting,
the factory ECU cuts fuel at 12 psi of boost.
It's a sudden, violent break in acceleration called "fuel cut."
In order to boost higher than 12 psi, you need to address fuel cut.
These are your options:
$99 - HKS FCD - if used properly, raises fuel cut to 17 psi. Most people have it set up wrong and it eliminates fuel cut completely.
FREE - plug the vac line going to the OEM MAP sensor. This completely eliminates fuel cut and it also stops the stock boost gauge from working (it's a worthless gauge anyway).
Now you have to decide. Is the HKS FCD something you want?
That's what these forums are for. Don't be afraid to ask a question. Don't worry, most of the people here are pretty nice to noobs! We were all there once.

For the first 3 seasons I just had the vac line plugged.
As of this season, I have a complete aftermarket engine management sysytem that has it's own fuel cut system.
I would not suggest disabling or rasiing fuel cut unless you have an aftermarket boost gauge and can monitor what you are running.
The MAP (manifold air pressure) sensor is on the firewall between the engine and the trunk, on the passenger side of the car. It is next to the little grey box that says DIAGNOSTICS on top of it. From the DIAGNOSTIC box, look an inch or two over toward the center of the car.
You will see a black sensor with one electrical line going to it and one, short vac line going to the plenum of the intake manifold. Pull the vac line off the sensor and cork it, but LEAVE the electrical connection in place.
OK thx man . i have a after market boost gauge . but what is important about reading my boost?? could my engine blow up ??
