You might want to call the stealership yourself. I question how hard they tried.

go in to the dealership, talk to their parts department. don't let them tell you no. it's in their parts catalog (on the computer). the CAN get it for you.

Same thing with my car. And I can literally see oil spitting out of my valve cover onto my turbo. Shit sucks! Any whoo, is it pretty hard to replace if anybody has done it themselves before? I'm gonna save money and fix myself. It doesn't seem that it would be that difficult, but I know the bolts are going to be a bitch to get off.

The mechanics and eveyrthing else I have heard says its easy.. like a 1 hour job...

Take off the throttle body and then the valve cover... the gaskett is right underneath... clean the shit out of the cover and seat the gasket and put it back together...

end of story.

mine has the same problem but the 2006 edition of sport compact car had a write up about the mr2 and they said it could be the phillips head bolts that they used, they said they work themselves loose all the time and you should replace them with hex head which you can get at twos r us.

The valve cover gasket is more than an hour job. I have done it in my garage and from start to finish takes about 2-3 hours.

Remove rear strut tower bar.
Remove intercooler pipings.
Remove throttle body inlet.
Swing the trottle body out of the way. You might want to remove a bunch of the electrical connectors and hoses so they don't get in the way.
Remove the EGR pipe.
Remove the spark plug wires.
Then you should have complete access to the valve cover.
