A question about title

Theres been this mr2 i've been lookin at for almost a year and now the owner doesnt pay his rent and ran away. Now the owner of the house is gonna send the mr2 to the scrap yard in a month is there any way i could get the title????

Ack! Don't let it happen! You can find out from your DMV what you need to do to get an abandoned vehicle retitled. FYI, unless the law is very different in NY a scrap yard shouldn't take the car without a title.

The scrapyard will take the car with or without a title because they dont have any use but to part it. In the even that the car is to be rebuilt and put back on the road a few years later, all you have to do is get the car inspected and if you have no title for it, request one be searched for and they will get you one. Every car I have ever owned has been brought back from non operational status.

my car is an abandoned title. i bought it from a toying company. the car was sitting in one of those time limit zones for days so it was towed away. the towing company left messages for the previous owner for a week and then got it retitled to them. i thought it sounded a bit shady so i found out more info. apparently this is done all the time. it was a huge cash cow for the towing company. they would tow a late model car worth like $10k and get it titled for a few hundred bucks and then sell it. also in pennsylvania, abandoned titles are different from reconstructed titles. they are easily transferred. i have had zero problems with the state since getting it. i havent tried transferring it to maryland yet though.
